Frequently asked questions

How much will it cost?

LiteTouch conversion projects vary widely based on the size and configuration of your existing system. The primary factors that influence cost are:

The number of LiteTouch enclosures (panels)

The number and type of keypads

The overall scope of programming, testing, and commissioning required

As a general guideline, most LiteTouch conversion projects fall within a broad range, depending on system size:

Smaller systems (1 enclosure, ~10–15 keypads): typically start in the low $20,000 range

Mid-sized systems (multiple enclosures, ~25–35 keypads): often fall in the $60,000–$80,000 range

Larger systems (whole-home or estate-scale systems with many enclosures and keypads): exceed $100,000

Because every LiteTouch installation is unique, the most accurate way to determine cost is through a brief system review. We gather a few key details about your existing setup and then provide a tailored budget estimate—before any on-site work begins.

Can I just fix my current LiteTouch System?

Sometimes, yes. But most LiteTouch systems are long out of production, making parts scarce and support limited. A Lutron HomeWorks upgrade delivers:
Modern LED performance (no more flicker, ghosting, or lights staying dimly on)
App control on phone/tablet and elegant wall controls
Supported hardware/software with long-term parts availability
Remote service for programming tweaks and diagnostics
High reliability from an industry leader
A chance to refresh keypads (clean 4‑button layouts, updated engraving)

How long will you be in my house?

For most homes: 1–2 days of onsite discovery and labeling, then about 4–5 days for installation, commissioning, and training. We stage work so lights function each evening; remaining fine‑tuning happens remotely.

You’re based in NY & FL—what if I’m elsewhere?

We do these upgrades nationwide and partner with a trusted local electrician (yours or ours). There’s no travel premium—you pay what our local clients pay. After installation, we provide the same remote support and, if ever needed, the local electrician is close by for hands‑on assistance.

What are the biggest challenges with an install?

Bulbs or fixtures: A few may be failed or mismatched; we’ll swap or specify proper LED replacements.
Existing wiring surprises: We resolve them during discovery; some items (like fan controls) may move from the panel to wallbox.
Engraving perfection: We provide proofs and offer post‑install engraving swaps so you can get the labels just right.

Can you reuse my existing panels and wiring?

Often, yes. In many homes we reuse the existing panel infrastructure and branch-circuit wiring. This cuts downtime and avoids drywall work.

Do I have to replace every LiteTouch keypad?

Yes. LiteTouch keypads and their wiring aren’t compatible with modern Lutron wired keypads. We typically replace them with Palladiom or seeTouch keypads (or Sunnata where a dimmer/switch look is preferred). RF keypads let us use existing wiring paths while keeping a clean, modern look.

Which wall controls do you recommend?

Our default is Palladiom 4‑button keypads in main spaces (cleaner scenes, fewer decisions). Where a dimmer/switch style fits better, we favor Sunnata. Please select your Palladiom finish (Architectural Matte, Metal, or Glass) during design so we can quote accurately.

What about my fans?

The legacy panel fan modules are replaced with elegant wallbox fan controls (e.g., Sunnata Fan). This improves performance and serviceability.

What about my shades?

Older QED shade drives are upgraded to Sivoia QS. We evaluate whether existing low‑voltage wiring can be reused and size power supplies accordingly.

Will this fix my LED flicker or buzzing?

Yes—our dimming modules are designed for today’s LED drivers. We also load‑type test during discovery and specify any outlier driver changes.

Do you offer remote monitoring and updates?

Yes. We can push programming updates, adjust scenes/schedules, and assist with troubleshooting without rolling a truck in most cases.

Is the retrofit UL‑listed and code compliant?

Yes—the panel retrofit method we use is UL‑listed and is designed to comply with NEC requirements when installed per the listing and instructions.

Will there be downtime?

We plan staged cutovers. You’ll have lighting every evening; complex areas may have brief daytime interruptions.

Do I need Wi‑Fi or special networking?

The processor needs a reliable hardwired network connection.

What happens if a device fails later?

Our systems are covered by manufacturer warranty and our own workmanship warranty. Most issues are solvable remotely; if not, we coordinate local service.

How do engraving changes work after install?

Live with the system for a few weeks—then send us your tweaks. We’ll issue revised engraving and ship replacement buttons.
